LIMPOPO – The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has condemned with the most strongest terms, the conduct of members of the community of Muraleni village in the Tshilwavhusiku policing area outside Makhado after they allegedly went on rampage yesterday, on Friday 13 November 2020, attacked and killed a 30-year old man they suspected of being involved in criminal activities in and around the area.
The Police were tipped off about a severely injured person who was lying on the side of road and they responded immediately together with the medical emergency personnel. Upon arrival, the victim identified as Jerry Shumba Manyere, was certified dead at the scene.
A case of murder was opened and the preliminary Police investigations revealed that the deceased was allegedly suspected of breaking into one of the houses in this area, earlier on.
The Provincial Commissioner has further warned members of the community to refrain from taking the law into their own hands even though they suspect any person to be involved in criminal activities but they rather inform the Police for the apprehension of such a person.
“Those who are still perpetrating these type of incidents, will be dealt with harshly and without compromise,” concluded General Ledwaba.
The suspects involved in this matter are still unknown and there is no arrest.
