LIMPOPO- Eight (08) suspects aged between 26 and 49 were arrested in the Waterburg and Capricorn Districts for offences that include dealing and possession of dagga and possession of illicit cigarettes.
The arrests were executed during an Intelligence driven joint operations conducted from Thursday, 05 November 2020 until this morning by the Mokopane Crime Intelligence, Waterburg District and the Saps Limpopo Highway Patrol Team (LHP).
The operation comprised of Mokopane Crime Intelligence and Waterberg District members was activated to trace suspects dealing in illicit cigarettes and other criminal activities around this area. The members then followed a positive information which led them to a certain house in the Mokopane CBD. Upon arrival, three (03) suspects were found busy offloading boxes of illicit cigarettes from a truck.
They were arrested immediately and 63 boxes of illicit cigarettes with the estimated street value of more than R200 000 were confiscated. Police further seized a truck and two bakkies.
Meanwhile, members of the LHP were conducting stop and search, Vehicle Check Points and patrolling flash points and hotspot areas in Polokwane when they received an information from about the suspects who were in possession of dagga at Mall of the North outside the City.
They immediately rushed to the parking lot where the transaction was about to take place. Two suspects aged 37 and 48 were apprehended for being in possession of a green refusal plastic bag containing 2,5 kilograms of dagga.
The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has commended these Teams of members on the job well done.
The suspects will soon appear before different magistrate courts across the Province and police investigations are continuing.
