LIMPOPO- Limpopo MEC for Social Development Mme. Nkakareng Rakgoale has reacted with shock to the death of a 28-year old man who was allegedly stabbed to death by his girlfriend at Khujwana village outside Tzaneen. Police say the incident happened after an argument allegedly ensued between the pair.
MEC Rakgoale says this incident is an indication that GBV is not only perpetrated against women and that it is important for couples who are facing challenges in their relationships, to approach social workers and to seek professional help other than resorting to violence.
“Our message to all people who are in relationships or families that are facing difficulties to always make sure that they seek professional assistance.
We have social workers who are able to intervene and come up with peaceful solutions for couples who are facing challenges. Incidents of Gender Based Violence are indeed increasing at an alarming rate. We have dispatched a team of social workers to Mokgoloboto to start providing psychosocial support to the family of the victim and other affected parties.” said MEC Rakgoale.
MEC Rakgoale has sent her heartfelt condolences to the family of the victim.
