LIMPOPO- Col Malesela Lebello of the Mokopane Police Station confirmed that three suspects are arrested following the robbery incident on Thursday morning.
“The three suspects, who were allegedly involved in the robbery of a delivery vehicle, were apprehended during a joint operation between neighbourhood watch and the police. A cellphone and an undisclosed amount of money was also recovered,” said Lebello.
He explained that during the incident, the suspects shot, the driver and passenger of the delivery van before they fled in the stolen vehicle. This vehicle was found abandoned 600m away from the scene. “The driver was shot in the shoulder and stomach and was rushed to the Mokopane Hospital. The passenger was also shot in the shoulder,” he explained.
“One suspect is still on the run and the police appeals to anyone with information that can lead to his arrest to contact their nearest police station,” he concluded.
A manhunt was launched for the suspect. “Afriforum members blocked the entrances of Mokopane, while others patrolled through the town on the lookout for the suspect’s vehicle.” De Vos says the vehicle was later spotted in the parking area of a local shopping complex.
“One of the occupants matched the description of the mentioned suspects and we immediately requested police backup to assist with the arrest.”
Police made three possible arrests and suspects will remain in custody until possible court hearing.
