MEC to attend the court appearance of a ward councillor who allegedly raped a minor in Kgapane and visit the Mboweni family whose three family members died in a GBV related incident

LIMPOPO- The Limpopo Social Development MEC Mme Nkakareng Rakgoale will be attending the court proceedings where a 58-year old ward Councillor, Lawrence Seshoka is expected to make his formal bail application at the Kgapane Magistrate’s Court outside Modjadjiskloof. Police say Seshoka allegedly raped a 14-year old girl after he offered her a lift last week at Mokwakwaila.

MEC Rakgoale has previously commended the girl’s parents for breaking the silence despite the suspect’s attempt to buy her silence by giving her money and a cell phone.

The MEC will be joining other community structures in calling for the court not to grant bail to the suspect as part of creating awareness about the devastating effects of the GBVF and also giving support to the victim and her family.

The MEC will later proceed to the Mboweni family at the Nkowankowa Township, where a father allegedly set alight a house while he was inside together with his two daughters aged 13 and 9 in another suspected GBV incident.
