THE DEPUTY DIRECTOR-GENERAL IN THE OFFICE OF THE PREMIER CLEARED OF ALLEGATIONS OF DISCRIMINATION BASED ON RELIGIOUS GROUNDS

LIMPOPO- The Office of the Premier in Limpopo Province welcomes the findings of the investigation by the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC), into allegations of religious discrimination by some members of staff leveled against Deputy Director-General, Ms. Nana Manamela.

The request for independent investigations, followed serious accusations of religious intolerance meted by some members of staff against Deputy-Director General Ms Manamela

Manamela, who was accused of discriminating Zion Christian Church and its members in 2019. As a result, the SAHRC found no evidence to support allegations of discrimination based on religious grounds by Ms. Manamela against any staff member.

The Office of the Premier is pleased that the matter has finally been concluded as the SAHRC confirmed that, as per its determination the allegations were without any merits and therefore dismissed. The office wishes to reiterate that no violation of any fundamental human rights will be tolerated in the provincial administration and is committed to uproot it in whatever form it manifest itself.
