LIMPOPO- Department of Basic Education hosted 20th National Teaching Awards on Friday the 15th February where most of the teachers won cars, oversees trips, laptops and more. This is an annual event that starts as a circuit, provincial and goes to national competition.
Minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekga says teachers are the most important people in our lives and in our country because they handle the most important people in our lives which is our children. Everything that we achieve is because of their hard work therefore they must be appreciated.
“Teaching is mother of all the professions. It is important that we bring the best of teachers, display them in public so we know what they are doing. We recognize and appreciate what they are doing” said James Ndlebe.
This events is to show appreciation and to also motivate other teachers so they can improve and strive for success.
“Children needs us teachers to help them live quality lives. As you see in our country most places are poverty stricken, they need us teachers to motivate and elevate them. Changing one child is changing one household” said one of the teachers.
Teaching is a kingdom work, it needs dedicated teachers to elevate and change our children. The better future of our country lies in the hands of our children.
